NIPPERS
Our Junior Activities Program or ‘Nippers’ introduces children aged 5 to 14 to Surf Life Saving. It is a great opportunity for families to become involved in our club and Surf Life Saving. More importantly however, Nippers teaches kids how they can help themselves and their friends stay safe at the beach while having heaps of fun along the way. As they progress through the various age groups, nippers will undergo lessons in wading, running, ocean swimming, board paddling and lifesaving skills as well as learning the basics of resuscitation and first aid
WHAT IS NIPPERS ABOUT?
Some of the aims of the Nippers program include;
Staying safe at the beach
Develop surf safety and awareness skills
Develop skills in surf sports
Encourage personal development and leadership skills, including teamwork and improving self confidence
Increased awareness of Surf Life Saving opportunities
Deliver the opportunity for growth in a controlled environment
Use surf sports skills in competition
Make new friends
Have fun!

Copacabana SLSC has an all inclusive Nippers program.
This program runs side by side our mainstream nippers and aims ensure the inclusion of people of different abilities and backgrounds to join our local club and learn to be safe at the beach.

ROOKIE PROGRAM
Who are rookies?
Registered members eligible to participate in the Under 13 and Under 14 age groups
Program Objective
The program aims to provide participants with the basic skills and knowledge required in preparation for becoming senior surf life savers. The program exposes participants to the everyday workings of actual patrols, community-focused activities and further surf life saving training courses.
HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?
Nippers is for children aged 5yrs+ at September 30 (i.e. if aged 9, then you will be in U10), and occurs every Sunday (from October to March) between 9:00-10:00am.
Age Managers: Parents are encouraged to become involved in some way with their child’s Nipper activities. Please contact our Director of Junior Activities to see how you can become involved.
